Juls & Projexx speak on New Project Junction, Ghana to Jamaica connection and more.

“It’s not about meeting halfway, it’s about meeting fully.” That’s how Juls opens the conversation, and it’s the whole thesis of Junction, his joint album with Projexx, grandson of dancehall producer King Jammy.

The two trace their chemistry back to family, to growing up on opposite sides of a connection between Ghana and Jamaica that runs deeper than either of them expected, through Marcus Garvey’s Black Star Line, the transatlantic slave trade, and the Maroons who carried Ghanaian roots into Jamaican soil centuries ago. Three years and nine tracks later, that history sits underneath the drums.
